I would like to start by wishing you a very happy new year. I am writing to let you know about the changes which are taking place at Emily Rose Wetherell. For the past six years I have enjoyed running my women’s tailoring business and have been so lucky to be commissioned to make everything from jackets, coats and suits to ballgowns and bridesmaid and wedding dresses and plenty more besides, as well as performing alterations to transform the unwearable into perfectly fitting clothes. None of this would have been possible without you, my clients, to whom I am extremely grateful. Your support has allowed me to take my work from a single sewing machine in my bedroom to where I am now.
Anyone who has visited my studio at the Gasworks will have noticed the number of men’s waistcoats there, which form part of Peregrine & Jude, a menswear and accessories brand which I established a couple of years ago and which has proved a hit! I have been so fortunate to run both businesses alongside one another until now, but I have come to the conclusion that P&J will now require my full attention to take it to the next stage. I will therefore be stopping my bespoke womenswear and alterations service as of January 2017.
I am incredibly grateful for your support and loyalty over the past six years and I am proud to say that every new client has come through the recommendation of a previous one. It has been such a pleasure to work on so many different projects, each one unique, whether creating from scratch or adjusting pieces to fit better. I hope that this will not be the end of my career in womenswear, but it will certainly mean a break for the time-being. I intend to maintain and further my skills in haute couture sewing and embellishment techniques and this site, the Facebook page and @emilyro_sews instagram account will continue to exist as a showcase for this.
I am very excited to be working full-time on Peregrine & Jude, and though I will miss the variety of my womenswear work, I look forward to expanding my menswear offering and reaching new audiences. If you have any waistcoat-related enquiries please visit www.peregrineandjude.co.uk . I will also be keeping this account active and you are welcome to get in touch for any advice.
Thank you all again and I hope you have a very happy 2017!
All the best
